As I take a moment to celebrate the remarkable 25-year journey of Wellspring Living, my heart swells with gratitude for the transformative work this organization has achieved. It’s clear that courage is the starting point of true change, and Wellspring Living has exemplified this by fearlessly paving the way for survivors when there was no map to follow.

Reflecting on our beginnings, I’m reminded of the powerful moment when our founder, Mary Frances Bowley, embraced the first survivor who stepped through our doors. This brave act marked the beginning of healing for countless participants and has set the tone for our ongoing mission. Over the years, we have broadened our reach to support not only women but youth of all genders, ensuring that everyone is treated with dignity, compassion, and hope.

Yet, our journey is far from complete. So many courageous beginnings are still unfolding, and as we mark this significant milestone – Wellspring Living’s 25th Anniversary – I am truly honored to be part of what lies ahead.

February brings us an important occasion to celebrate Black History Month, especially here in Atlanta. This is our chance to shine a light on the persistent issue of trafficking. Eighty percent of survivors served by Wellspring Living are from communities of color, and studies reveal that 40% of trafficking victims in the U.S. are Black women and girls; this month calls for renewed commitment. Let’s unite our efforts to uplift at-risk youth and survivors as we bravely break the cycle of exploitation and embrace the journey toward restoration together.

Additionally, February is a month of love, culminating in Valentine’s Day—a perfect time to cherish healthy relationships, including self-love. For our survivors and at-risk youth, this is a vital moment to foster positive connections and heal from past unhealthy patterns. Prioritizing self-love is foundational, paving the way for all other relationships in our lives.

I invite you to join us in embracing love and supporting our mission to walk alongside youth and women who are at risk or are survivors of sexual exploitation as they move toward rebuilding their lives. There are countless ways to get involved with Wellspring Living. Whether you choose to attend an event, volunteer your time, or simply help spread the word, every action contributes to meaningful change. Together, let’s transform brave steps into lasting healing and hope for our community.
